Welcome Baby Lily!

Wow! Can you believe it? In the last two months there have been two new babies added to our extended family. Last month Josh (Mommy's cousin) and Rebekah added Melody Ava to the Katz clan. Melody was born April 16th and was 5# 12oz and 19". And yesterday Brianna (Daddy's cousin) and Kevin welcomed Lily Ai. Lily was 8# 3oz (she already outweighs baby Melody!) and 19 3/4". As you saw in the last post we just got back from visiting baby Melody in Las Vegas. I hope Mommy and Daddy take me down to Southern California to meet Lily very soon!

Las Vegas Baby!

This was a big, big weekend for me. I went on my first airplane trip! Mommy and I flew to Las Vegas to meet the newest member of our family, baby Melody. Daddy dropped us off at the airport in San Jose and when we arrived in Las Vegas Grandma and Grandpa (who drove to Las Vegas) and Auntie Lynne and Uncle Ron met us at the airport. Auntie Lynne and Uncle Ron have such a nice house - so many cupboard doors and closets to open and shut! They also got me this great book which plays nursery rhymes which I played with all weekend long. In exchange I was sure to point out all the things that will need to baby proofed next time their grandson baby Levi comes to visit!

I got so much attention from Lynne, Ron, Grandma, and Grandpa that I didn't even mind not being the center of attention at Josh and Rebekah's house. Plus they have a staircase that I really enjoyed crawling on, two puppy dogs to play with, and a huge tv which I kept trying to push all the buttons on. Baby Melody is awfully cute and so petite - I can't believe that I was ever that little! And she slept through dinner like an angel. I was fairly well behaved but I was pretty tired from all that traveling - Grandpa had to work hard to keep me entertained. All in all Mommy was very proud of how well I did. Do you think next time she'll take me gambling?

Piano Maestro

Mommy and Daddy have been trying to encourage my musical talents. Maybe one of these days I'll be as talented as Uncle Erik or Uncle Joe. Unfortunately our piano is in very sad shape and the kind old gentleman who came to look at it suggested that we might be better off purchasing another piano. My Mommy took this news very hard - she is sentimentally attached to the one we have now. Luckily right now all I want to do is bash on the keys so we can keep the one we have for a bit longer :)

Mommy and Me

Here's another picture of Mommy and me. Mommy is usually the one snapping all the pictures so there aren't always as many pictures of her as I would like. As many of you know Mommy doesn't really like her picture taken all that often but I think we make a pretty good looking pair!

Mother's Day

Here's a picture of me and Mommy on Mother's Day. I really liked the balloon I got her - it was hard for Mommy to get it away from me! I tried hard to be a good boy but with those teeth coming in, the heat, and a rash from my measles vaccine I wasn't always successful. That's OK - Mommy and Daddy love me no matter what. I'm such a lucky boy!

Grandma is so smart!

Thanks Grandma for giving Mommy and Daddy the idea of giving me a popsicle! Now I know sugar is not that great for me but with two teeth coming in Mommy and Daddy were willing to relax the rules a bit. Plus it was one of those rare hot days here in Monterey. Even Mommy and Daddy had a popsicle to cool off! I hope that they decide to give me one again soon....I still have two more flavors to try.

Blogarithm

So you might have noticed that you were no longer receiving e-mails when I added stuff to my blog. Rest assured that Mommy transferred everything over to a new service so those e-mails will start up again. Those of you who were already subscribed don't need to do anything else. Big Boy Cup

So despite all of Mommy's worrying I eventually mastered the sippy cup. So of course now we are moving on to "real" cups. I love when Mommy gives me my big boy cup. She spoils the fun somewhat by insisting that I wear a bib to help catch all the water. Plus she tends to give me the cup at dinner since I'll be getting a bath and changing into PJs soon so it's no big deal if I get all wet. Although drinking water is fun I still can't resist playing with it too - I am an Aquarius after all!

Temple Cutie

Here I am ready to go to temple on Friday night. Daddy picked out my outfit (and Mommy thought it was adorable). I had a great time at temple - I must have crawled up and down the stairs of the bima 50 times. And every once in awhile I would flash Mommy and Daddy this huge grin when I got to the top of the steps. Too bad cameras aren't allowed in temple.....

Tired

I know it has been awhile since I've posted. There are several reasons for this. One of these is that I just won't sit still long enough for anyone to take a picture (or at least long enough for a decent picture). Plus I have been very busy. I spent one afternoon at Grandpa Will and Karen's house playing while Mommy worked and Daddy went out with a friend. We had a great time and I hope Mommy and Daddy bring me back soon so we can play (and hopefully get some pictures). Another weekend Daddy took me to this huge mall and we had a good time shopping - he even bought me a Sesame Street phone toy. I am so lucky to have such a great Daddy who spends so much time with me. And of course Mommy takes me to my baby class every week. Now that we are bigger we even get to play outside. Mommy tried to take some pics last week but once again I was too busy for her to get any good shots. Then Grandpa Mike came and took care of me while Mommy and Daddy actually went out for an evening. Grandpa did a great job - he even had to feed me dinner, change my diaper, give me a bath, and put me to bed- and Grandma Susan wasn't even there to help! Last but not least Grandpa Will and Karen came to visit me this last weekend so Daddy could get some much needed yard work done while Mommy was at work. We went for a walk and played hard as you can see from this photo taken after they left. I am such a lucky boy to have so many people wanting to play with me :)

The Latest Stats

Today I had my 15 month checkup (and 3 shots!). I am currently 20.5 pounds (5th percentile) and 31 inches long (50%). Yup, that's right - I take after those Telfords- long and lean! Although you only see 3 teeth in this picture I actually have 5, and two more are coming in on top. I am still not walking on my own but tear around the house holding onto anything I can push around. I also finally figured out how to crawl on my knees (as opposed to the army crawl I favored a few months ago). I love to "help" open and close the fridge, dishwasher, and any door or cabinet I can find. I also like to turn the lights and water faucets off and on if someone will hold me up where I can reach. I call just about everything "dada" or "cat" right now but love to point at lots of things so Mommy and Daddy can start to teach me the names for other things. And I also can make the sign for milk when I want a drink. So much to do and learn - no wonder I've been tired and ready for bed at 7 pm lately. I'm sure Mom and Dad wish I could sleep in a bit later than I do (I usually wake up between 6-6:30am) but I'm always excited to start another day.
